Back  2023  Semester project »Typevibe«  Tobias Strunk
Type has evolved over centuries, yet for a long time it remained static and inflexible. It was primarily used to convey factual information—until design turned it into a carrier of emotion. With the invention of lead type, fonts became precisely reproducible, but still immobile. This tradition continued in digital design, even though new possibilities emerged. Variable fonts, by contrast, are dynamic. They adapt to context and open up new dimensions of design. Typevibe explores how variable typefaces can convey emotion and make content tangible through interaction and animation.
